Manitou Springs, that quaint little town at the base of Pikes Peak, will be hosting a fun event for Scottish folk or those who are fond of anything Scottish. On Saturday, April 6, the town will be the site of its first ever Scottish Walk, in celebration of National Tartan Day.

The Bed and Breakfasts of the Pikes Peak Area are supporting the efforts of the Scottish Society of the Pikes Peak Region and the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce. Check out the local area Bed and Breakfasts' web site located at http://www.pikespeakareabnbs.com to find a B&B that suits your fancy. When you call, inquire about special discounts for those who are either participating in the parade or will come dressed in anything Scottish. Wearing a tartan will qualify a guest for a discount as will a fanciful costume that transforms the wearer into a giant Scottish thistle. Wild imagination is encouraged.

The one-mile Scottish Walk will begin at 10:30 am followed by a noon ceremony at the town clock, and a 2 PM Kirkin' O' the Tartan which is a blessing of the tartans. The day concludes at 7 PM with a Ceilidh (pronounced KAY-lee) which is a dance and concert. Staying at one of the area B&B's is the perfect way to cap off a fun filled day. Who knows what inventive innkeepers may come up with to help celebrate the Scottish theme?
