The Bed & Breakfasts of the Pikes Peak Area are showing their sense of community by committing $300 worth of non-perishable goods to Care and Share for the holiday season. At their monthly meeting on November 14, the bed and breakfast (B&B) group of 35 members, voted to help families in need by dedicating funds to Care and Share. B&Bs in the organization cover the Pikes Peak region from Black Forest to Divide.

Howard Lerner, a member of the Bed & Breakfasts of the Pikes Peak Area says, "This is a great opportunity for local bed and breakfasts to demonstrate our sense of hospitality. As a close-knit group of businesses, we want the community to know how much local charities require support. While the events of September 11 are still on our minds, it’s important to remember charity begins at home. The Pikes Peak area B&Bs are dedicated to keeping our local economy strong and working through difficult times together."

The Bed & Breakfasts of the Pikes Peak Area have issued a challenge to other local organizations. They are asking groups to match the B&B’s $300 or donate in-kind non-perishable foods to Care and Share. "The efforts of holiday giving should focus on our local community", says Lerner. "We hope other agencies will offer additional assistance to our local Care and Share and the families they serve."
